Joshua 1: 9 This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” The children of Israel are preparing to go into the Land of Canaan and traveling to the land God promised them. Now more than ever, they needed to be alert as they traveled. They were told by Joshua to follow the instructions of Moses and not deviate from them. They were also told to study the book of instruction continuously and meditate on it day and night. The promise was for them to prosper and succeed in all they do.
God has made a way for us to follow His Word and His name is Jesus and He will be with us wherever we go. The Holy Spirit is here in us and with us to guide us and God's Word has the instructions we need to succeed and prosper. We have a Savior who is with us all along the way and the power of the Holy Spirit is real and powerful to give us direction. Why do we ignore these instructions so easily and why are we so scared for God to provide and cause us to succeed? One reason is because when we give it to God and commit to follow His will He will work His will out in our lives. And that is a bad thing? NO. Trust the Love of our God and His perfect plan for our lives and we will succeed and prosper. Yes prosper.
When following God's instructions, we can sometimes get caught up in many false actions, which are distractions that take us off task and away from where God wants to take us. Jesus is our promised land. God's promise to redeem us and take care of us has been fulfilled in Jesus. Everything we need is found in Jesus. Forgiveness, love, sanctification, direction, and vision for our lives is turned on when follow Jesus. We must walk and be strong when we do walk.
Paul said it this way in Romans 12:1 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
The road we follow is a narrow one that leads us through a transformation into a whole new space or land that still has dangerous traps, but God's Spirit is with us to guide us and empower us to grow as we walk. Walk into the strength that only God can give and trust God at every turn to help you keep walking as followers of The Way. The end of this road is paradise and the trip is worth it all. Be Strong All Along the Way, and accept nothing less than the direction and power of God!!
