1 John 2:1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. We have kept the secret of God's great salvation far too long and now we are paying for it. Hope eternal is a reality, not just a dream, and the salvation offered by Jesus is offered to the whole world, not just a select few. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. If we try to minimize this great salvation to a select, chosen, group of people we would have to change the above words by Jesus to "God's love is limited so...." and that will just not work will it? All of this "chosen" few has come from a verrrry manmade attitude about salvation and it shows a very weak interpretation of the love of God by people who are very clanish or cultish. Ya know the old song "it's my party and I'll cry if I want to, cry if I want to!"
Their attitude of Christian community is join my club, with my rules, and you will be in the cool club. Sounds good except that is the opposite of what Jesus teaches and is blaphemis in nature and content. Leave it up to humans to pollute the gospel of Jesus Christ and put our human reasoning in the mix. ALL have been chosen to receive salvation, thus the "whole world" in the above scripture. This is not an explusive club to make those who are members believe they are better than all others. No! Jesus made salvation possible for "everyone" who wanted it. No secret handshakes, no special club phrases, but availble for all who will come for it.
I am kinda sorry for those poor nobodys who found a way to make a special club where they are the featured guests and even the leadership of that club. ALL OF THIS IS FOR EVERYONE!! In fact, we want all people to hear of this wonderful gospel so they can have the opportunity to receive forgiveness of sins and the abundant life. When that happens the Holy Spirit takes over and they tell others they know about Jesus also. Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. Of course, not everyone will believe, but everyone should have the opportunity to receive this free gift from God and experience life change at their core.
I think we have missed the point of this whole witnessing thing. To not share the gospel is to keep it a secret and thus keep the power of God in salvation from being seen and experienced. To me, this is very dangerous and countereproductive to the mission Jesus left for all of us. The solution is to share what happened to us, if we received Jesus by faith. Your story is vital to the furtherance of the gospel. Share it and do not keep it to yourself, because there is power in the message and in the messenger. Today would be a great day to make a commitment to not keep the gospel a secret anymore.
The Pilgrimage Continue.
