It's What I Do

Writer's picture: David WarrenDavid Warren

A very famous line in the movie Batman occurred when Batman saved a young boy from death and the onlooking mother said a heartfelt "thank you to Batman." To which, Batman turned to her and said "It's what I do!" This was Batman's mission, and in that mission, he became a hero for those who needed saving. Jesus is not only our hero but our SAVIOR, and when we praise Him for what He has done, He can say in a big way, It's What I Do. It seems we humans are always looking for heroes and the movie world has capitalized on those emotions with blockbuster hits like Superman, Marvel Avengers, and many more. Look at the scripture below and Jesus helps us identify with His love. John 14: 15 “If you love me, obey my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate who will never leave you. 17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. 18 No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you. 19 Soon the world will no longer see me, but you will see me. Since I live, you also will live. 20 When I am raised to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.21 Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.”

Jesus not only saves us for eternity in heaven, but He gives us an advocate and that Advocate is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit leads us into ALL truth, not just some, but ALL. The world does not know the Holy Spirit, but those who are born again DO know Him because we are born again IN the Spirit. He is the most necessary part of who we are, and He changes what we do what we say, and what we believe. When we study the Word of God, there is an ignition that happens that prompts the movement of the Holy Spirit, and the devil hates that connection given to us by Jesus. If you have doubt about what you read in the living Word of God, why is that happening? The devil wants doubt to rule in our lives so we will not be people of faith as we are called to be.

The next time you read a truth in the Bible, just believe it and receive it, and then you will realize a desire to pray constantly in all situations and actually do what Paul told the church in Thessalonica to do in 1 Thessalonians 5: 17 Never stop praying. That way you are poised and ready to "act" immediately when a situation needs God to work. You will pray, and that is your best response, and you will say, "It's What I Do." Peter spoke to this very subject and gave us a promise we can rely on. 1 Peter 3: 10 For the Scriptures say,

“If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue from speaking evil    and your lips from telling lies.11 Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it.12 The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right, and his ears are open to their prayers. God is listening, Is praying, "What you do?" It should be....
