On the Verge of Average

A.W. Tozer wrote "Refuse to Be Average. Let your heart soar as high as it will." God spoke to Isaiah and in chapter 40 God speaks through Isaiah to all of us who call Jesus Lord, to be more than average. The world will try to beat us down and some of you may be On the Verge of Average, this is your wake up call. Isaiah 40:28 Have you never heard?

Have you never understood The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth.

He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding.

29 He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless 30 Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. 31 But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary.

They will walk and not faint.

You are a child of the King, and the King is in control. Let Him control you!! We live in the victory of the cross and the resurrection, so what can hold us back? Easy answer: NOTHING!! D.C. When do they find that it's true? I actually believe in an awakening in the church, and that awakening will rock the foundations of the lost and the saved. Why? Because too many Christians have "settled" in their mediocrity, when God is calling us to soar on the wings of eagles. Further in the song, the lyrics go like this: Kamikaze, my death is gain I've been marked by my Maker. A peculiar display, yeah, The high and lofty, they see me as weak 'Cause I won't live and die for the power they seek.

There is a constant magnet that draws Christians to be like the world and not care or stand up because it may make us unpopular. The band Skillet has a song called Unpopular and the following lyrics tell the tale. Am I the only one who ain't come undone? Everybody's lost their dang minds When you check your feed, it's like clown TV And you're waitin' for the punchline. When you go against the "system," you will have to pay the piper, and he has stacked the deck in his favor. God blows away the stack and draws us back. (see what I did there?) We might become unpopular, but that is better than being a part of the world. Jesus says we are IN the world but not OF the world. Popularity is not what we seek. We seek Jesus.

If you are On the Verge of Average, resist the urge and get back in the fight. The fight is worth the cost, and God protects those He loves, and that is you. If you can find reasons to stay average, you are already on a downward trend, and it is time to fight the mediocre gravity that is pressing down on you and look up to follow the vision God has for your life. With Christ, we are far from average. We are living for the King of Kings, and He will shelter us under His wings. Psalm 91:1 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. 3 For he will rescue you from every trap

and protect you from deadly disease. 4 He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. 5 Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day.

It is time to pray to God to show you His vision for your life, and then become more than average. Trust God and He will come through for you every time. HE IS GOD!!
